Zobo (Zoborodo) is a Nigerian beverage made from dried Roselle plant flowers. The drink is also known as Roselle drink and called Sorrel drink in the Carribean. Zobo has a sour taste so it can clash with sugars. Although the drink is known by different names all over the world (Zobo, Hibiscus tea, bissap, wonjo), Zobo is the word in the Hausa language for the edible plant Hibiscus sabdariffa, the flavor profile is very similar, the drink usually has a tangy flavor profile.
Is zobo drink better hot or cold?
The truth is that it doesn’t matter if you are going to drink hot or cold. Drinks made from hibiscus flowers contains vitamin C, iron, vitamin A and health-promoting antioxidants. The heat from boiling water helps to extract the various beneficial compounds and pigments from the dried flowers.
