    Locally referred to as #Bommaguwakyi (to carry the children behind, or on the back) in Twi.

    Seen growing around and sometimes we ignore them because we don’t know it’s uses.

    The plant extract is reported to be strongly diuretic( causes one to pass out more urine) and taken to allay spasms. Thus it can be taken to reduce menstrual pains and gripping in dysentery.

    The whole plant is also used as a laxative. and to treat gonorrhoea and malaria.

    It is externally applied to treat skin infections.

    Phyllanthus is known to be hepatoprotective this it protects the liver. It is found in most herbal products which is meant to treat liver conditions.

    The next time you see phyllanthus think of its medicinal properties.
